Had
my eye on this bitch from the minute the first pictures of the
litter came off the presses. And I didn’t have first pick on it
either.
Poor Karen…, (the girl is
going straight to heaven when the time comes) if she didn’t hear
from me more than once a day about this puppy she was lucky. It
was a long eight weeks for her.
So, not only didn’t I have
first pick of the litter, I also found out that Mike and Rose
McCarthy had fallen in love with her too! Phrases like, “she
figures things out faster than any of the others” and “she is
the cutest one” kept pushing this puppy up to the “pick of the
litter” category and further dashing my chances of getting her.
Then the
day arrived when we all met to evaluate the puppies. Karen,
Mike, Rose and I. Standing outside with nine puppies running
all around, my eyes were on one. Karen’s eyes were on all.
Mike and Rose making the final, last chance, are you sure you do
not want to keep her?, decision. It seemed like an eternity for
me.
And then
it happened. Rose decided not to keep her, what with the baby
and a full time job, she just didn’t want to have a new puppy
quite yet. Great! One down, one to go. Karen was still
processing and then just looked at my pitiful face and said,
“take her” and man did I!
That
puppy and I were in the car and down the road before she could
change her mind! Didn’t even know what she was going to
charge me for her… didn’t matter, she was going home to be with
Morgan.
As she
grew up and lost her puppy fuzz, it became pretty clear that "PooPee"
had inherited her great-great grandmother's coat. Like old
Windermere Tippy, she's basically a gorgeous little bitch with a
very scruffy coat. Now, if she can prove herself to be even
half the brood bitch that Tippy was, I'll have no complaints!
Her first litter of puppies by Morgan produced beautiful smooth
and lightly broken puppies. Clinique has been bred to
Sow's Ear Julien
this time around, so this should be quite the "litmus test" for
coats! Stay tuned.......
